Awaab's Law

Awaab's Law sets fixed timescales for social landlords to investigate and fix damp, mould and other health hazards. It's named after Awaab Ishak, a two-year-old who died in 2020 from prolonged exposure to mould in his family's housing association flat.

What it requires

Social landlords must investigate reported hazards within a fixed number of working days, start emergency repairs quickly, and offer suitable alternative accommodation if a hazard can't be fixed in time.
